Chelsea’s Diego Costa Hospitalized with Rib Injury

Chelsea striker Diego Costa was taken to the hospital which has a rib injury within the wake of his side’s League Cup loss to Stoke.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said Diego Costa continues to be hospitalized having a rib injury following his side’s League Cup penalty shootout defeat  at the hands of Stoke City.

The Spain international featured in the first place in Tuesday’s encounter at the Britannia Stadium but was made to leave the pitch in the 33th minute after collecting a knock.

Costa was substituted with Loic Remy and he was taken to hospital for even more examination on his rib injury.

It is unknown how serious the injury was, although the 27-year-old could miss Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge as a result of his injury.

Costa’s premature exit was not the only woe for the champions, also not so great for Chelsea since the team eventually lost the game on penalties, with Eden Hazard missing the decisive spot kick.

Jonathan Walters had given the home side single- lead in the 52nd minute, but Remy leveled the scoring in stoppage time for you to send the game into extra time.

According to Jose Mourinho, we still don’t know much at all regarding the actual severity of the injury, but requiring a checkup doesn’t exactly speak highly of Diego’s prospects of earning the Liverpool match in few days to come.

In case he’s not capable of playing, we have faith that Loic Remy has recovered just in time and also managed to score on Tuesday, and hopefully he can build on that confidence-booster should he be called upon to lead the starting squad.
