UK Visa application is easy to apply if you follow the directions provided on the UK embassy website properly. There are different types of the UK visa; immigrants who need to travel to any of the cities in the UK and stay for a given period of time should apply for the Long Term Visa. You will be expected to give your main reasons for your long term stay in the UK.
The most commonly recognized UK type of visa is the Visitor’s or Tourist Visa. The Visitor’s visa is issued for a short stay in the UK. The reason for this visa is to visit loved ones, friends and family, seminars or holidays, vacation, business, training, and transit visa – this is given when you are going through the United Kingdom.
There are short-term visas that are issued to Government authorities called the Official and Diplomatic Visas. The Student Visa is issued to students who wish to study in any city in the UK for a given period of time that can last up to three years.
How to Apply for UK Visa
Step 1
You can apply for your UK visa through a company called Teleperformance– UK application center in Lagos or Abuja Nigeria. This company works in partnership with the UK Government for visas and migration in Nigeria, which makes visa application simple and quick if you have all the required documents.
Step 2
Visit the UK Immigration and visa site to find out the type of visa you should apply for. The UK Visa fee changes; see the application fees for different categories under the type of visa you need. At the same time, for general visitor short-term visas, the visa application fee is 141 US Dollars. From the UK Visa and Immigration site, you will find some answers regarding your application fees also book your appointment with the UK Visa Application Center.
Note: You can apply for a UK visa up to 3 months prior to your date of travel to the UK. We strongly encourage you not to confirm your travel plans with travel agents until you have received your visa. To find out how long it takes generally to process your type of visa, see the Visa handling times page on the official website.
Step 3
After you have filled the UK visa application form online, you will be given a GWF number, you should keep this number in a safe place because it will be required from you later. You will also get an email confirmation of your Visa appointment date, the address, and the required documents you’ll take along with you.
Step 4
You should register all your details, type of visa or interest on Teleperformance site after you have booked your visa appointment. In case you don’t register on the visa site, you won’t be permitted to go for your appointment. You can also track your application on Teleperformance site after you have registered. All UK visa applicants are required to book an appointment before a visa can be granted to them.
This is the stage to arrange your supporting documents for your visa application. If you don’t know which supporting documents to go with, the list of required documents provided below should help you decide. You can find more information on the book an appointment page.
Step 5
On the day of your appointment at the UK Visa Application Center, you will be required to bring along the documents listed below:
There is a gradual process after payment of your visa fees; your picture and fingerprints – biometrics will be done at the Visa Application Center. After this has been completed, your visa fees will be non-refundable.
Before you leave on your appointment date, plan to be there 15 minutes ahead of schedule at the visa application center. Bring your appointment letter and application packages, your international passport, along with a valid ID or travel document with at least 1 page that is blank on both sides. When you arrive at the visa application center, you will be given a number. Hold on to the card until the number on the card is called to make your way to the interview window.
Step 6
Choose whether you would like to pick up your documents back in person at the visa application center or have them mailed to you by post. If you choose to collect your visa in person, the pickup time is between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (With the exception of Public Holidays) from Monday to Friday. You are required to bring your application package again, photo ID and a photocopy of the biodata page of your international passport.
You will be alerted through an SMS (if you sign up) when your application has been sent to the UK Embassy on the submission day and you will also be notified of the return of your international passport back to the UK Application Center. You can also track your application online on Teleperformance site.

And like how much do I need to have in my domiciliary account or is it possible I use my spouse statement of account?

Great job! Please can you help on how to apply for a group of student going on vacation in UK. do they allow group application as USA doesn’t anymore. are they going to submit individual account statement of their parents or the school statement of account . Thank you
@Tundun – yes, they do allow group of students to apply for a Visa, but you can’t apply as a single application – each person has to submit application individually since it is a vacation. Also, they’re going to submit individual statement of accounts and other requirements. In other words, you are considered an individual applicant and must meet the requirements to apply for a visa before you can get one.
I wish you good luck with your applications and let me know if you have any other questions.
i have a wife UK citizen and we got married here in Nigeria before she went back. please if i want to apply for a visa which visa would I apply for? and is the same requirements will I follow that is all the 11 papers needed before you apply for UK visa. and about the bank details is it compulsory for me to have money on my account before I take my leave in Nigeria?
Hello Olaniyi,
Thanks for stopping by. Marrying a UK citizen will generally entitle a foreign national (You) to live and work in the UK. However, this entitlement is not automatic and there is certainly no immediate entitlement to citizenship for a foreign spouse. Below are requirements for Marriage visa
Marriage Visas
Foreign spouses of UK citizens must apply for a marriage visa before coming to the UK. If the couple has been together for at least four years, and the foreign spouse passes the Life in the UK citizenship test, they will be granted indefinite leave to remain. Where couples have been married for less than four years the foreign spouse will be granted leave to remain in the UK for an initial two-year period. If the couple is still together after two years the foreign spouse is likely to be granted indefinite leave to remain and, thereby, becomes a permanent resident of the UK.
However, there are additional requirements that have to be met before a foreign national can obtain leave to remain in the UK by marrying a UK citizen:
1. The foreign spouse must have obtained entry clearance before coming to the UK;
2. The couple must have met each other;
3. The couple must intend to live together in the UK;
4. The UK citizen must be able to support his/her foreign spouse, and any dependents, without having to rely on public funds and the foreign spouse must have somewhere suitable to live in the UK.
Once the foreign spouse has lived in the UK for three years they are likely to be eligible to apply for UK citizenship.
Foreign nationals who wish to come to the UK to marry a British citizen may be granted an initial six month visa during which time they should marry and make a fresh application for leave to remain as a spouse. Foreign nationals who are in the UK on a visitor’s visa may not usually transfer this to a marriage visa.
New restrictions have been imposed because some foreign nationals marry British citizens, or residents, purely so that they will be granted leave to remain in the UK and subsequently be in a position to apply for citizenship. To reduce the incidence of foreign nationals marrying UK citizens to obtain leave to remain, people who are subject to immigration control may have to obtain a Certificate of Approval of marriage from the Home Office before they are permitted to marry in the UK.
For bank details and money in your bank – that is yes, you must show you can take care of yourself when you arrive before employment even though you have a spouse there. Your wife should know the requirements to bring you over if i should say. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again
Please how do I go about booking thesame day appointment for 6 people applying for family visitors visa I am worried they may not have thesame date of appointment how do I makesure they all get thesame date for the appointment? Many thanks
Hi Sharon,
I believe each appointment needs to be booked individually – That is to say you have to submit individual appointment application, it is uncertain if they’ll have the same day appointment but you need to reach out to teleperformance UK visa office in Lagos. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hi, I would like to visit an embassy in the UK to apply for my Residence Permit to commence study. This country has no embassy in Nigeria, therefore, I am required to visit any of their embassy in other countries to apply.
The acceptance of admission has been sent in and the school is ready to mail the embassy of my choice in Nigeria about the authenticity of my visit.
Which visa do you think is applicable for this purpose.
I will be commencing studies starting 29th of August.
Regards
Hello Percy,
There are two types of UK student visa: Short Term Study Visa and Tier 4 Student Visa. A Short Term Study Visa is sufficient for short academic courses and for most English courses. For longer academic courses, you will need a Tier 4 Visa. These are divided into two categories: Tier 4 (General) and Tier 4 (Child). Tier 4 visas are issued under the provisions of the UK Points Based System (PBS).
What type of student visa will I need?
For academic courses up to 6 months, or English courses up to 11 months, a Short Term Study Visa will be sufficient. For longer courses, or if you plan to extend your study time in the UK, you will need a Tier 4 Student Visa.
If you are under 18 and want to study a course at GCSE level (NQF Level 2), you must apply for a Tier 4 (Child) Student Visa. If you want to study at a higher level (e.g. A Levels or University Foundation), you can choose whether to apply for a Tier 4 (Child) or Tier 4 (General) Student Visa. The requirements and conditions differ, so the best choice will depend on your own circumstances.
If you are over 18, you must apply for a Tier 4 (General) Student Visa. Note that you cannot study at GCSE level or below if you are over 18.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for stopping by
I know about the UK student visa. However, you seem not to have gotten the context of my request. I am not going to study in the UK. I only need to go to the UK to visit the embassy of the country where I will be studying to apply for a Visa and Residence Permit to enable me study in that country. The country doesn’t have an embassy in Nigeria but do have one in the UK. The only country in Africa with their embassy is Egypt however, the Egyptians seem not to be admitting visa request from Nigerians for that purpose at the moment.
Thanks
Hello Percy, thanks for stopping by again. I do apologize for the confusion earlier on. Since your purpose of visiting the UK is to visit the embassy of the country you’re intending to study. You’ll need the standard visitor visa. Keep in mind that the earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel. and you can stay up to 6 months in UK. Let me know if you still have any questions.
Thank you.
Thanks for the response.
Since I intend to travel next month, I suppose I can no longer apply.
Thanks for the info.

Hello Guru,
I submitted my application at the VI center on 17 Jun 2016 for a 6 months visiting visa. My application was submitted because i read that processing time is about 2 weeks. Now my dilemma is that am traveling to Cairo on 6 July and have bought my ticket but my documents are yet to be returned to me. What do I do please. If I decide to withdraw can I get my passport back before 6 July? Thanks
Hello Ayo,
I believe you will need the same passport to get Cairo visa to travel? If you decide to cancel, i will recommend that you let the VI center know about your plans and request to get your passport immediately. Waiting for the passport to be mailed to you will not work since 6th July is just next 6 days. Just make out time and visit the location in VI to grab your passport asap possible. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hi,
please i want to apply for my four months old son. I have a valid visa already. What is the process. Also would i have to take him for the interview for biometrics? Do i also have to include my work documents.
Hi Lovette,
I wrote an article about that in my other website. I have copied that below for your convenience. Let me know if you have any other questions.
You can apply for a Child Visitor visa if you want to come to the UK and:
you are under 18
you are from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland
you meet the other eligibility requirements
You should get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks of applying.
You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before your date of travel to the UK.
You can only stay in the UK for a maximum of 6 months, or 12 months if you’re travelling with an academic visitor, e.g. a teacher or researcher.
Long term visit Visa for a Child
You can also apply for a long-term visit visa if you can prove you need to make repeat visits over a longer period. You can stay for a maximum of 6 months on each visit and your visa can last for 1, 2, 5 or 10 years.
Your visa will only last up to 6 months past your 18th birthday – after that you’ll need to apply for a long-term visit visa as an adult.
With Child Visitor Visa one can:
stay in the UK for a maximum of 6 months
take a short course of study, for up to 6 months
stay for as long as your visa lasts, even if you turn 18 during your visit
With Child Visitor Visa one cannot:
work
get married or form a civil partnership
bring family members (‘dependants’) with you on your application – they must apply separately
get private medical treatment
get public funds
study at a government-funded school (unless you’re coming to the UK as part of an exchange programme or educational visit)
Eligibility
To come to the UK as a child visitor, the applicant must:
be under 18 years old
be visiting the UK for no more than 6 months (or 12 months if you’re travelling with an academic visitor)
have made suitable arrangements for your travel to and your stay in the UK
have consent from your parent or guardian for your trip to the UK
be able to pay for your return or onward journey
have enough money to support yourself without working or help from public funds, or have relatives and friends who can support and house you
Also regarding a Long-term Visit Visa. The applicant must also prove that:
you have a frequent and ongoing need to come to the UK
your reason for coming to the UK is unlikely to change significantly while the visa is valid
you plan to leave the UK at the end of each visit
Your visa may be taken away (revoked) and you may get a long-term ban on visiting if your travel history shows you’re repeatedly living in the UK for extended periods.
Required documentation
a current passport or other valid travel identification
1 passport-sized colour photograph
proof you can support yourself during your trip (eg bank statements) or that you will be financially supported by your parents or carers
contact details for at least one parent or guardian in your home country
details of where you intend to stay and your travel plans – you should not pay for accommodation or travel until you get your visa
your tuberculosis (TB) test results if you’re from a country where you have to take the test
If you are coming to the UK to study, you should provide details of the course and the institution where you will be studying.
You must provide the original plus a photocopy of every document you provide.
You will need to have a blank (spare) page in your passport on which to put the visa.
Study as a child visitor
You can take a short study course (up to 6 months) during your visit.
You must be accepted on a course at a place of study that’s one of the following:
accredited by Accreditation UK, Accreditation Body for Language Services, British Accreditation Council, Accreditation Service for International Colleges
an organisation that is licensed to sponsor Tier 4 migrants
Otherwise your course will need to be held at an educational institution listed by one of the following:
Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted)
Education and Training Inspectorate (in Northern Ireland)
Estyn (in Wales)
HM Inspectorate of Education (in Scotland)
Independent Schools Inspectorate
Schools Inspection Service
Bridge School Inspectorate
You cannot study at a government-funded school (a ‘maintained school’) unless you are coming to the UK as part of an exchange programme or educational visit.
Apply from outside the uk
You must apply online for a Child Visitor visa.
You will need to have your fingerprints and photograph (known as ‘biometric information’) taken at a visa application centre as part of your application.
You may be able to get your visa faster or other services depending on what country you’re in – check with your visa application centre.
Extending visa
You can apply to extend your visa if it is for less than 6 months (or less than 12 months if you are with an academic visitor).
You must apply while you are still in the UK.
You should apply before your current visa expires.
Turning 18 while in the UK
You must extend your stay by applying for a visitor visa if you turn 18 while you are in the UK (and your visa is for less than 6 months).
If successful, this will allow you to extend your stay up to the maximum duration of 6 months (12 months if you are travelling with an academic visitor).
How long it takes
A decision will be made:
within 8 weeks for postal applications
usually on the same day if you use the premium service
You’ll be contacted if your application is complex and will take longer, eg:
if your supporting documents need to be verified
if you need to attend an interview
because of your personal circumstances (for example if you have a criminal conviction)
Once you have applied you can stay in the UK until you have been given a decision, as long as you applied before your last visa expired.
Travelling with an Adult
When travelling to the UK with an adult (someone over the age of 18), you will need to identify them in your visa application. Their name will appear on your visa, and you will be refused entry to the UK if you arrive in the UK without them. You can identify up to 2 adults in your visa application, and your visa will only be valid if you travel with at least one of them. The adult can apply for a visa at the same time, but you must each complete separate applications.
Travelling Alone
You can travel to the UK without an adult (someone over the age of 18).
Your parent or guardian will need to provide their:
written consent for you to travel to the UK
full contact details
They will also need to provide proof that you have somewhere suitable to live during your stay in the UK, including:
the name and date of birth of the person that you will be staying with
an address where you will be living
details of your relationship to the person who will be looking after you
consent in writing so they can look after you during your stay in the UK
You must provide a letter from the school confirming it has notified the local authority of your visit and your care arrangements if:
you will be studying in the UK during your stay
you are under 16
You must include the reply from the local authority if the school has received one.

Hello and thanks for the information you have here. Please I would appreciate your input on the following.
I intend to apply for uk tier 4 student visa and I have ALL requirements. However, my passport expires October. I plan to obtain a new passport after my visa has been issued and possibly apply for transfer of visa to my new passport before I travel to the UK. Reason because my CAS, ATAS and TB test certificate carries my current passport number. Obtaining a new passport before I apply for my visa will imply I obtain new documents afresh. Now my question – Is there a validity requirement on international passport used to apply for UK visa? If there is, do I have a chance to explain my case to the issuing office?
Hi Sophia,
I will recommend you renew your passport before applying for the visa. One reason is because it takes time for the approval to come out and with that said, it approaches the expiration date on your passport. Moreover, the issuing office will look at that too. Renewal of passport does not change the passport number. It is just a stamp on the passport that shows the next expiration date. So, it will not affect the tests you have taken. In other words, renew your passport before applying for a visa. Thanks
Thanks for the response.
Hi boss
I made a UK visa application on 29/06/16 at Vi tls…plus biometrics. I just realized I had made a mistake in the application where it says how long did I stay in the UK during my last visit which was over 8 yrs ago n I wrote one month instead of 4months.I am thinking of withdrawing my application at this stage so that I can rectify this…will then reapply again.don’t want to be seen as fraudulent and get a ban for this stupid mistake.
Pls how do I go about this. Thanks in advance
-deji
Hi Deji,
Well,if you want to withdraw the application, you need to reach out back to the VI office you applied from. To me, i don’t see that as fraudulent, and I consider that as a minor error. I don’t even think they’ll look at that too. But if you plan to withdraw, remember you have to start again and pay the required fees too. Good luck
Please what type of visa can i request for if i want to go and work in UK as Nigerian citizen. And how much will it cost me?
Hi Yusuf,
Thanks for stopping by. You will need the Tier 2 work permit and must go through an employer
The Tier 2 work permit system replaces the old UK Work Permit system. Tier 2 work permits are applied for by employees who are coming to the UK to fill a vacant position that cannot be filled by a British citizen and who have confirmed sponsorship from a licensed UK employer.
It is important that the employer can show that the business is genuine and that there is a genuine requirement for the intended role. In addition, the proposed employee must be suitably skilled and/or qualified for the vacant position, meeting the basic requirements and passing the Tier 2 points test.
In order for an employer to be able to obtain a work permit, in most cases they must first be able to prove that they had advertised the position nationally and could not fill it with someone from inside the European Economic Area.
Employer Sponsorship Licence Requirements
In order for an employer to sponsor a foreign worker, the employer must first have an Employer Sponsorship Licence.
There are 4 categories of Tier 2 work permits:
Skilled Worker – the Tier 2 skilled worker category is for people with a specific skilled job offer in the UK who are needed to fill a temporary gap in the labor force.
Intra-Company Transfer – the intra-company transfer category is for people who are being transferred to a UK branch of their organization.
Sports People – the sports people category is for elite professional athletes and coaches.
Minister of Religion – the minister of religion category is for workers within a bona fide religion.
For the amount/how much it will cost you. You need to work with the employer you’ll be using. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hello, I want to travel to Swiss and then Uk. My passport is currently at the Swiss embassy and I want to get a Uk visa once I have it back, I’d have just 5 days to process my Uk visa before my travel date (can’t change date) how can I get a fast track visa that would make it ready in about 3 days. Thanks
Hi Niyi,
3 days to obtain a visa is impossible. Definitely, you’ll need to attend an interview section. If an interview is required, The consulate aims to process non-settlement applications within 15 working days. If you are applying to settle in the UK, in most cases they aim to process your application within 12 weeks.
Thanks
Hi, I have completed my application and would like to book an appointment for my husband and I at the Ikeja office. If my husband is not around due to work travels, can I stand in as a proxy for him, even though we have separate applications, but the same appointment date?
Hi Smart,
I believe you have to physically be present at your interview/appointment day. I don’t know how that is possible to stand as a proxy for him. I know you have a female voice too, even it is over the phone. I will suggest you change the date of appointment for your husband or let him come back for it. To avoid being denied, stay away from cheat IMO:)
Dear Guru,
Top of the day. Please am self employed and was a builder but have no business licence and tax return to attached to my visa application but has been building a lot of houses for people. What do I do?
Hi Ginika,
Definitely, you should find a way to get one, there are so many means and ways to get one in Nigeria. It’s an easy cake if you have your money:)
Hello Guru
Pls what are the requirements for renew 2yrs Visa to UK.
You can renew or extend your visa in the UK if your most recently granted visa is either a Tier 4 visa, or other type of visa from which switching to Tier 4 is allowed. You should normally apply before your visa expires. You are not allowed to apply in the UK if you are here as a Short-Term Student or Visitor.
Follow this link for partner’s website for the requirements: https://www.ox.ac.uk/students/visa/during/extend/requirements?wssl=1
How much uk visa cost me if someone send invitation letter to me and how long we it take to process
Hi Joseph,
Thanks for stopping by. Here is an article for your question: https://nigeriamessageboard.com/list-uk-visas-apply-visa-fees/. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks
Can someone be refused a uk visa just because she is a nurse? Clarify please!
Hi Angel,
It depends on the type of U.K Visa you’re applying for. It does not necessarily has anything to do with profession. There are so many reasons why people are denied a visa to travel to U.K. If you’re denied a visa because you’re a nurse, i believe the consular office should have a reason for it. Let me know if you still have any questions.
Thanks

Please I am a doc, working in Saudi Arabia and will be renewing my uk visa for 2years. I have good travel history to brazil, SA, Uk, Nepal all for Medical conferences.
Now I am renewing my visa for a medical conference in uk on September 9th but my visa application appointment date is just August 21.
I am applying this late because I just got my Passport from my employers days ago (they usually hold our passports in Saudi).
Do you candidly think it is beneficial to apply using priority service (max 5days) or apply normal considering the processing timelines?
Also, should I state the above passport reason for late application in my cover letter? or just stay quiet, probably it is still okay to apply!
NOTE: I have all documentations needed (payslips, letter of invite, letter of intro, appointment letter, bank statements, hotel and flight booking, certificate of attendance of previous conference, photographs, cover letter).
I need your suggestions/advices before I visit the visa application centre on sunday, God bless
Hello Doc,
Thanks for stopping by. I would recommend that you should do priority service since your date of travel is closer and most applications are processed within 10 days (Not guaranteed). This is excluding weekends and holidays too. So,to play safe and avoid missing your travel day go with priority service. Let me know if you have any other questions.
NB – Make sure the priority service you’re going to use is a guaranteed service. I have seen a lot of fake priority services that just need your money and later give excuses. Good luck
Thanks for the quick response. Well the priority service is the one offered by the VAC. They indicated that they will put priority applications on queue first for processing.
Thanks
Okay. Good Luck out there buddy and if possible, let me know how it goes?
Thanks
Hello SEO,
Please I have a conference to attend in Manchester UK in April next year (2017). Can I apply for a Visa now in line with my philosophy of doing things early. I already bought my flight tickets and have confirmation letter from the organizers as well as other documents .
Thank you.
Hello Shehi,
I would recommend you start on time to avoid delays in case the consulate will need more documents before issuing you a visa. Buying your ticket does not guarantee you would travel. I would have waited to have my visa before buying my ticket. I guess you can change it if required?
Hello CEO,
Please i read somewhere mentioning Tuberculosis Test for Nigerian Visitor. Can you please educate me on that?
Shehi,
Thanks for stopping by – That is correct, if you’re staying more than 6 months. You must be tested for tuberculosis if you are coming to the UK for more than 6 months and a resident of Nigeria or Benin. Your test must be from a clinic approved by the Home Office. We will not accept a tuberculosis test certificate from a clinic we haven’t approved. The following are approved clinics in Nigeria. There are no approved clinics in Benin, so if you’re from there you’ll need to travel to Nigeria to be tested.
Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC)
No 5D, Reverend Ogunbiyi Street, Off Oba Akinjobi Way
G.R.A. Ikeja
Lagos
Tel: +234(0) 807 219 1112, or
080 2226 4059, or
090 9215 6079
International Organization for Migration (IOM) No. 4, Buchannan Close, off Buchannan Crescent, off Amino Kano Crescent
Wuse 11
AbujaTel: +234(0) 807 219 1122, or
+234 (0) 80 9563 7898, or
+234 (0) 80 8522 1427
You should contact the above approved clinic to book an appointment. You should make it clear that you need the test for a UK visa application. You can expect to get an appointment within a few days of your request. At busy times you may have to wait 10 days for an appointment, especially during the UK student visa peak season between June and September. We cannot arrange or prioritize appointments for you.
What you should bring with you
proof of identification, which contains your photograph, preferably your passport;
tuberculosis test fee; and
if you have had tuberculosis in the past or have any other lung disease you should provide details of your previous screening and, if possible, your medical notes and x-ray results.
If you would like an appointment with a female clinician, please inform the clinic when you schedule your appointment.
If you need to cancel your appointment you should contact the clinic and refer to their cancellation policy and procedure.
Test fees
The fee for tuberculosis screening is 130 US Dollars (or its equivalent in Naira). The fee will be payable in local currency at the prevailing exchange rate advised by the IOM. You will pay the IOM directly for the cost of your tuberculosis test. The cost of the test is in addition to the visa application fee.
The test fee does not cover treatment if you have tuberculosis.
So, if i understand you, it is only applicable to those staying for more than 6 months that require TB screening? but those for few days or weeks does not require it.
On the purchase of Tickets before Visa, I thought one of the conditions for Visa issuance is ticket and accmodation/hotel hence my decision to buy it before applying. Please explain further.
Thank you.
Yes, if you’re staying for the period more than 6 months according to Gov.UK website and you can also call the numbers i provided in my previous reply to confirm too. Thanks
Hello, pls am applying for UK visa with my husband n 9month old baby as a visitor, we are actually gng 4 a wedding and d ceremony will hold by 1st of October and we jst filled d visa form and my main question is how many days would they give us 2 come 4 submission after booking and how much is visa fee now . Thanx
Hello,
For most visiting visas – Most applications are processed within 10 days. In your case, Short-term (up to 6 months, single or multiple entry) is US$118. Though, this price is likely to change anytime by the U.K embassy but as of today, that is the price. Thanks
How do I contact TLScontacts in Victoria Island Lagos by phone?
Hi,

Unfortunately, that is a company that don’t believe in phone number. They prefer you to come and send an email which will never replied back:) Good luck
Hi! Reading through the questions and your answers, I believe that you will be able to give me answers to my questions.
A close friend in the UK (He is British citizen), is inviting me for hols.
I work, but it does not pay much, so I will be unable to foot the bills, so my friend will practically sponsor my travel financially and through put my stay in the UK.
My question is: Since he will sponsor me,will I still be required to prove my financial capability? As in providing bank statements and all that?
That is the only thing keeping me back from applying.
Again, is it possible for a solicitor to process my UK visa from the UK?
Thanks in anticipation…
Hello Dora,
Since someone is inviting you and the person is a citizen of the country – the person should be the one responsible for the required financial docs needed for your interview. Your own should be to prove to the embassy that you’ll come back to the country – Nigeria after your visit. In other words, you need to present something that will convince them that you’ll come back (property, kids, jobs etc). In your second question, whether it is possible for a solicitor to process your visa from the U.K- i wouldn’t recommend that because you would like to go back later. Being clean from a start is the ultimate and i doubt if that is possible since you have to be present to receive your visa and it must be from the country you’re migrating from and that is Nigeria. Good luck
Thanks!!! I appreciate…
Please do any form of medical report/status required in UK visa application document
Yes, if you’re staying more than 6 months you will be tested for tuberculosis – for more info visit this link

Hello, it depends on how long you will stay and what would be your reasons of traveling now. If you are visiting you will need general visitors visa, but if you’re going through for school purpose you will need student’s visa which you will need to work with the university. Thanks

Thanks for stopping by. This article is for U.K, but since you have asked this question, you will need to apply for Study Permits and for more info click here
Please sir. How long can reapply application will stay before coming out… Please must it be that 3months again. because I was denied UK visa on 15th of September because of the wrong information concerned Ielts exam instead of life skills test..application visa to go n stay with my husband..
Hi Evans,
As far as UK Visitor Visas go, there is no time limit that a person must wait after a refusal before applying again. The applicant is, however, always advised that they should address and remedy the grounds for the refusal before applying again, but this is not a requirement. For your case, your reason for visiting may be working against you? And for you to have a family in UK, you must have a strong ties to show you’ll come back to Nigeria after your visit. Good luck
Hi, seo, I need your assistance, I will want to travel to UK for Christmas. I have been to dubai but not uk. I am presently a director of an organisation which I control for my aged parents. I have a good bank statement. I have a tin number, I am the only one who has access to allow the accounts but my parents are aged and are still the only persons on the CAC. Getting a new cac is lot of stress so what can I do. Thank you.
Hello Muchi,
I would take permission from your aged parents to see if you can add your name on the CAC – it is doable in Naija:) Once you have your name on the account, you should be good to go
Good day. Please what documents do I need to apply for a UK visa. A friend is inviting me there for holiday. Thank you
Hello,

When you apply you’ll need to provide:
a current passport or other valid travel identification
evidence that you can support yourself during your trip, eg bank statements or payslips from the last 6 months
You need a page in your passport that’s blank on both sides for your visa. Your passport must be valid for the whole of your stay in the UK.
You’ll also need to provide a certified translation of any documents that aren’t in English or Welsh.
Read the full list of supporting documents you can provide.
You might need to provide additional documents if you’re visiting the UK:
for private medical treatment
to apply as an organ donor
as an academic on sabbatical and want to stay for 12 months
as a prospective entrepreneur
to take the Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) test or sit the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

You’ll be told where to send your documents when you apply.
Any original documents you submit as part of your application will be sent back to you.

You might also need:

I am required to this online, but I only have money in Naira , so it accepted ? can the banks in Nigeria authorise Naira card payments of upto 5 million Naira in a single transaction ? Please advise .
Hi, go to any of the banks in NIGERIA that will issue you a Mastercard or visa you can use worldwide- then use it to make payment online. Thanks
Do you need to show tobacullousis test (tb test)
Hi,
Please see the answer to the last comment in the post. Let me know you have any questions
Hello Guru. I am working a visa to travel to the Uk for 3 months, so would I need a interview and what are the possible questions that are likely to be asked there? I just want to make sure I get the Visa
Pls I wanted to renew my visa to 2years can someone tell me the current visa fee?and where to surmit my application, and how to pay the visa fee.

good day se0
pls i want to apply for a uk tourist visa.i intend to visit and sponsor myself but i saw a letter of invitation as one of the requirements and i dont have anyone to invite me i just want to visit for a few days and return back. so how important is the letter of invitation
Hello Ose,
It’s not mandatory to provide letter of invitation. You only need this if someone is inviting you to come. If you’re going by yourself, you have to have the economic ties/reasons to convince the consular you’ll come back after your visit. Also, make sure you have all requirements before submitting your application to avoid delays.
Thanks
SEO Guru, Good day. Trying to apply online, but TLS wants me to state my GWF number. So, how and where do I pay.
Hello Phil,
I apologize for the late reply.
Copy and pasted from the UKBA website-
When you save or submit your online application form, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address that you supplied in your application security details. This email will contain a unique reference number (known as a GWF).
You should make a note of your GWF. You will need it to log in and access your saved form. We will not be able to assist you if you do not know your GWF.
If you do not receive your confirmation email, please check that:
you have you provided your correct email address, and
the message is not in the spam or junk folders in your mailbox.
N/B
As long as you start the form, you can save it after filling out the first couple of pages. That automatically generates a GWF number. You can then go to the VFS website and make an appointment without either completing or submitting the application online. You can return and amend/complete the form at any time within 7 days, and then save it for another 7 days.
good .morning sir, I’m Joshua .I want to apply for UK working visa as soon as I get the invitation from the company I want to work for, but to make everything more faster. can I go for the medical check up first or I should wait until I get my invitation?
Hi, I would suggest during the time of the process because you will need a request paper you will go with for the medical. Thanks
HELLO
I JUST STARTED THE REGISTRATION PROCESS ON THE UK VISA APPLICATION SITE, I GOT A PROMPT THAT IT WAS SUCCESSFUL AND AN EMAIL WILL BE SENT TO ME FOR ME TO CONTINUE WITH THE APPLICATION.
I HAVE BEEN CHECKING MY EMAIL FOR THE LAST ONE HOUR AND I AM YET TO GET THE EMAIL
PLS WHAT DO YOU ADVISE I DO?
Hello, have you checked your junk emails? Sometimes emails hide in that place. Also, since it says successful after the application, you might want to try and login again with your credentials. If the issue continues, contact the customer service of the website. Good luck
Hello,
My former co worker in Nigeria who is a citizen of UK agreed to offer me a job in UK, but told me I need to sort out my work permit to UK. I browsed through the Tier2 visa requirements and found out its too difficult to meet.
Sir, is there no any other categories of visa I can apply for that I’ll allow me to work in UK? E. g the Visitors Visa.
Hello,
Thanks for stopping by. This link should be able to address every question you may have. Thanks
hello seo, I have my own company reg with CAC and money goes in and out of that acc do I have a chance as a tourist to Scotland with my wife who is not on my company documents but on the marriage certificate?
Hi,
Yes, you could serve as head of the household. Also, make sure you add her name to the account since you guys will be applying individually. Let me know if you have any other questions
Hello SEO,
Thank you for the good job you are doing.
Please I have some questions concerning UK visa.
1. My account is a salary account which does not have enough money in it but i have a fix deposit in the same bank for 1m, can i combine both the statement and the fix deposit letter as financial document when applying for visa?
2. Can a person combine more than on bank statement, that is to get from 2 or 3 different banks where one is having money?
3. What is the role of employer’s letter? for example if i get a letter from my employer like a University saying they are the ones that are sponsoring me to a conference in the UK, can that serve.
Thank you.
Great job you doing.
Have travel before and now I need to travel back on a visit.
1. How can I apply for 2 years visa?
2. My uncle inviting me is ready to sponsor my trip accommodation and feeding, my question is I have no money in my account though money comes in and out. CAN I BE GRANTED VISA for empty account.
3. Out of the 2 years visa, how many months can I stay?
Thanks
Hello,
Thanks for stopping by – First, you don’t tell the consular office or embassy the number of years you will need visa for. You just to apply through the means provided in this article- You might be granted up to 2 years or less.
2. I don’t grant visa and I am not certain you will receive a visa during an interview. Since your uncle is sponsoring everything, he needs to provide “Affidavit of support” to you which you will use during your interview date. It will show that your uncle is able to take care of you while you’re with him. About the visa, it is the consular officer that will determine that.
3. If you’re given 2 years visa, you’re allowed to stay less than two years BUT not more 2 years. In other words, don’t overstay – just go back before your visa expires. This is necessary because you would want an answer during a renewal. Good luck
Hello, my sponsor is my husband. We have beem married for 2yrs. He works part time bcos hes in college. Hello Chinwe,
I don’t know the exact monetary requirements for the U.K application for visa, but i know the bigger the better. Thanks
Hello SEO,good morning.
My husband is currently studying in the uk on a chevining scholarship.I applied with my two children for a uk tier 4 dependant visa on the 15th of November and since then we have been waiting for them to make a decision and get back to us…so my question is this, how long does it take them to process this type of visa-tier4 dependant visa and what’s the guarantee that we will get the visa.
Thank you.
Hello, Usually it takes approximately 4 weeks and it all depends on the number of applications received at the consular center. Give it more time as this is a Christmas season which is busy for them. Good luck
Hello seo! Nice job u doing.. Pls i need to know more about the visitor’s visa.
A friend in scotland inviting me to come for 6 months stay and she is a british citizen. She will be responsibile for all the expenses.. Like acommodation, feeding, flight fee and etc and have to travel before xmas or after.. What do i have to do? to be faster and how long will it take to process? Ur urgent respond is needed sir
Hello,
Tell your invitee to send a letter of invitation, affidavit of support/doc showing he can take care of you while you’re in U.K. Then, once you have that you can apply for a visa by following the processes stated in this article. Remember it is not possible to travel in this xmas because it takes approx. 14 days to process your application and it could be more – depending on the number of application received by the consular center. Good luck
Hi Seo, I intended to visit my husband who is a British citizen for the Christmas holidays, I made the application in November but did not add some crucial documents so application was refused. I reapplied immediately on the 7th December with the necessary information and stated that I intend to travel on the 21st and return on the 3rd of January. I have still not received any feedback from them and 21st is fast approaching. Can they refuse the visa because the time period I stated that I wanted to travel has elapsed ?
It does not matter when you stated you want to travel. What you have to do is NOT to buy your travel ticket until you have your approved visa on your hand. Thanks
I really appreciate insight about travelling shared so far in this site. Please can you educate me, if possible, how to secure VISA to work in UK (I’ve not been there before). I’m a Nigerian Citizen, a graduate analyst and do apply to vacancies related to my background in UK, but couldn’t get through without VISA. Please can I do to scale through and work in UK. Thanks.
Thanks. It is preferable to go through employers who can sponsor you or get your foot in UK to be able to work. You will need a special paper to be able to work too. Thanks
pls how do I apply for a honey moon visa for I and my fiancé. Can it be the same account statement and application.
You will need to apply for the same regular visitor visa and indicate your purpose of visit. It can be the same account since you’re married now and both of you are going for honey moon. Good luck

You will need to inquire from the embassy. I were you i will ask about it because sometimes they will keep the record and go ahead apply for visa. Don’t have that in mind. Thanks and good luck
Comment Text* when somoene goes to the UK, can they apply for asylum with your visa, for those who are façing terrorist attack.
Well, it depends and you need to check on U.K asylum website to find out. Mind you you will reviewed to determine your eligibility. Good luck
Good evening,
I have a finance who is a togolese who happens to be a British citizen too. He wants me to come visiting this year as he was in Nigeria last Christmas to see me and my family. Am a lawyer who stopped work to do a masters programme in UI. What possible documents will be required on my own part for my visa application?
If you are visiting for temporary stay, you will need the requirements for regular visitor’s visa. I have written an article for types of visa and requirements in this blog. I will provide the link as soon as possible or you can use the search button at the bottom of the blog to find it. Thanks
Good Morning..I apply for visiting visa and i fill online form but i am unable to make a payment of the visa fees due to the fact that i can’t pay anything more then $100 using my naira mastercard … Please is there any option. for the payment..or can i get the Tlscontact phone number to find out
Hello, go to first bank or GTBANK and let them know you will need a temporary visa card with the amount you want to pay with or more. Then you can use it to make your payment online. Remember that you might have to pay a fee. Thanks
please my partner sent me an invitation but don’t know if she is for real or scam.what will I do to verify.
You can’t verify unless you confirm from the sender or take it to the embassy during interview.
Hi my name is Olayemi, my father is a UK citizen, as well as my 3 sisters (born there) and am like the only one from Nigeria, but then i want to relocate there, is that going to make it any easy for me. Note me and my Dad have seperate surnames, i use my mum surname.
Hi,
Since he is your Dad – he can simply file for you to join him/family as a citizen of the country/UK. In other words, if you have different surname, he can get a court order to show he is your father or you leave it like that because DNA will tell at the end. Most a times you have to go for DNA to determine if he’s your father or you just want to travel to U.K. Good luck
Good morning. Thanks for your very helpful information.
I am a medical doctor in Nigeria and want to take the Uk medical licensing exam (plab 2) in the Uk in August. I will be there for about a week. Is there any particular amount that I will have to show saved up for the visa application.
Hi, I need to apply for a Plab 2 visa and because I don’t have enough money in my account my family friend has agreed to sponsor the whole trip. What documents do I need to ensure I get the visa. Exam is in June and I need to apply asap.
Please kindly help. Thanks.
Hi Dr Z – Thanks for stopping by – Here is a guest post i wrote on Xenforo. That should answer your questions. Thanks
hello,
i applied for visa for my children since the 3 of MArch. UK visa contact centre tolf me it was completed over a week ago and decision sent to Lagos. Its over a week now and I have been tracking on line no answer from them. what can i do?

Dear support,
I stumbled at your online page and really appreciate your professional input. God bless you.
I and four other staff in my Coy have been scheduled for a training in the UK for 8th and 9th May, 2017. All documentations are ready and while applying on their site, i discovered my passport expires by 7th of June 2017.
I quickly engaged the passport office three weeks ago for renewal, made payments and did all necessities but to my surprised, there are no materials and my new passport has not been produced.
Should I go ahead with my application since my passport is valid within the training period?
Should i also fill the “additional information” section of my application with the details of my engagement with the Nigerian passport office?
Kindly provide your professional input.
I await your urgent response please as i intend taking appropriate steps today.
Regards,
Passport validity must be valid for atleast six month before making your trip. The requirement that a passport is valid for travel for six months beyond the holder’s stay in the U.K and you need to renew it before traveling. Thanks
Please….i intend travelling on a visit with my wife on my forthcoming leave down to the UK, so I wanna know the document required and how to go about it if we are to have the same application or not.., and more so wanna know what could possibly be the visa fee for both of us if we are applying together…. at the matter of fact I am working being the head of the household…,she’s not working and don’t know if any of her document would be included….thank champ

3. Is 1500 or 2000 pounds okay for my cost of travelling for 4days.
4. Visas are refused due to large lodgement can I move any money recently lodge into my account into fix deposit to show that it is not meant to boost my account?

Hello Bros. 1). Since you can’t purchase ticket Now, you can give an estimate depending on the time of flying. 2). Cost of living is the amount of expenses while in UK. It does not include ticket expense. 3). I can’t determine the amount that is okay for your travel except the officers at the embassy or consulate center. 4). I believe you need to have/show you can take care of yourself while you stat in UK. Putting all the money in there sometimes does not help because it could be suspicious during the interview
I need to know how I can renew my UK visa
Hi,
The same way you applied earlier..it will require the same docs you submitted when you applied for a visa. Meanwhile, here is how you renew or extend your visa
hello sir… Sir my girl friend is a french citizen and lives in UK for over 10 years and I want to visit her but the problem we are having now is that she’s not sure if she has the right to send me an invitation letter. Please help us
Hi,
If she is a citizen of UK…she should have the right to send you an invitation. Everyone has right to send invitation to anyone you know, but the issue lies on issuance of a visa from the consular office.
Please i am applying for a settlement visa and the lagos immigration asked me to send my documents to the uk and it’s going to take 6months to process am going to live with my dad who is a uk citizen as well as my step mum, am under 18 will it really take that long to get my passport back with the visa print in it? It’s going 2months+ now but no sign of reply yet.
Hi,
I believe the 6months is just an estimation. I would advise you call or reach out to the consular office or third party you filed through for your visa/papers.
Hello Guru, lemme just go straight to the point.Am ayo by name and am gonna be 17 by June next month. My dad was born and bred in Nigeria and has been in UK for the past 20 years or so. and he is now a British citizen.well I happen to be born in Nigeria and am done with my secondary school now and a patriotic citizen.I love my country. But I decided the last time my dad came to Nigeria cos am living with a aunt of minethat I wanna leave Nigeria so we both went to the consulate office at cms and we were told that I need to go for tuberculosis test and English test. I paid 47,500 for the tuberculosis test last week and I did the test yesterday at Issac John street Ikeja and am planning to pay for the English test next week.Dear After concluding the test I don’t know the needed documents again to conjoin so as not to be refused visa OR should my dad apply from UK.
Thanks in anticipating your response.
Hello,
Since you’re under 18 years of age, your father should be able to file for you as a son and a minor. He should be able to tell you the papers you need. But, in case he did not this link and this page should help you well.
Hi Guru,
I live in the UK, married with children and husband. I’m thinking of inviting my 73year old mother to the UK on a standard visiting visa but I’m a bit confused as to what documents she needs to include in the application. My husband and I are sponsoring her, she doesn’t have to spend a penny but I don’t know how she could prove her ties to Nigeria as she does not have a C of O for her landed property in Lagos, she’s only got a copy of the land survey. She’s a petty trader and she’s got a bank account. I’d appreciate it if you could get back to me.
Thanks in advance.
Please is going through teleperformance compulsory in applying for UK visa and if yes how much is the fee

I applied for U.K. Tier 2 general visa and I have a valid sponsor who issued me a certificate of sponsorship which I used for my application.but my fear is that I used academic IELTS for the application instead of UkVI IELTS, do u think my application will be denied based on that
To my view I don’t see why they should deny it. But I am not the embassy, just cross your fingers and continue to pray.
Is there going to be an interview at the TLS Center in addition to submission of documents on the appointment datt?
