Various studies and travel experts have revealed about the best time to book airfare from Nigeria for international travelers who have tried other flight booking sources that did not work. Though, one new study gives a scientific method to this highly demanded cheap flight tickets for after travel answer.
Airfare search engine like CheapAir and united airlines newly improved international flight booking website have released a study on the top waiting windows to find cheap flight tickets. One of these sites CheapAir analyzed data from more than four million airline trips in 2014. Analysts tracked ticket costs from 320 days prior to the flight date up until the day before, calculating exactly which day every fare hit its lowest point.
From the reasons, it turns that for international travels, tickets should be booked 54 -100 days from the travel date. If you miss this sweet spot, CheapAir recommended that you search for the “prime booking window” – That is, within 104 and 29 days of departure for the lowest international airline tickets.
In general, International travel booking varies by destination, but most tickets should be booked at least no less than 100 days ahead of the expected travel dates.
The new research exposes the idea that the lowest possible online booking flight could be found by waiting until the last minute to book a flight.
“While you are frequently not well served by booking too early or too late, of the two “too late” is much worse,” CheapAir explains on their blog”. Travelers who wait until the last minute to book a flight, outside of the advised window, may end up paying as much as N16,000 more per ticket versus overpaying by N7,260 when booking on time before the 104 days out.
Regardless, the magic window is not a win-win case. If you know you need to travel to popular destinations during the peak time, for instance, U.S.A and Europe during summer break, the further out you book your airfare the better. The study also makes suggestions for traveler during the winter holidays– book around 5 to 6 months prior to Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Look at a couple of the international travel booking recommendations below:
- Europe: 151 days before your flight
- The Caribbean: 101 days before your flight
- Mexico: 89 days before your flight
- U.S.A: 100 days before your flight
The U.K based airfare search Skyscanner also conducted a study of own analysis and recommended that the best time to book a cheap flight is five weeks ahead of time.
Analyzing three years of data, which represents up to 200 million searches, the travel search launched the Best Time to Book tool – flight tracker to help travelers get the best air ticket prices, that also break flights month to month.
Although, for customers that need to book the best airfare ticket, still require more work of deep search than domestic flights. The information from Skyscanner is to remove the five-week rule and research prices and track fares for that route by wanting you to sign up for Airfare prices alert.
