ICT education or what most Nigerians call ICT in education is a type of education and communications program that most students in information technologies should know.

ICTs stand for information and communication technologies and are defined, to the purposes, as a “diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate, and to create, disseminate, store, and manage information.”

These technologies include computers, the World Wide Web (internet), broad casting technologies (TV and radio), and telephony.

ICT, or information and communication technology, makes many common tasks simple and facilitates communications from virtually any geographic area. It needs the installation of complex systems which need to train personnel and all working parts as a way to operate efficiently.

ICT encompasses telephone, wireless and computer systems, which can be industries which many IT experts believe, have changed how the world operates. Below you will find the importance of ICT in education:

Shared resources – groups of users can access the same programs, applications as well as hardware such as printers and faxes using networking and wireless technology.

Education – used in schools, ICT has motivated students and also facilitating the completion of work and the communications between students and teachers. The information and communication technology in education serve as an equalizing agent since a lot of students can have access to it and work together as a group.

Control – network set-up can control use of specific information and operations. Similarly, it is easy to monitor work, and also communications through the use of the application of ICT in education.

The disadvantages stem largely from the architectures of ICT, which are complex and for that reason contain some inherent disadvantages.

User competence – as systems start to grow more complex, users require more and more specialized training – to be able to fight the impact of ICT on education
