The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, is good for a temporary visit to the United States of America, and for K fiancée visas. Form DS-160 is submitted electronically to the Department of State website via the Internet. Consular Officers use the information entered inside the DS-160 to process the visa application and, combine with an individual interview, determine a candidate’s eligibility to be given a non-immigrant visa.
Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Non-immigrant Visa Application for the non-immigrant visa categories, including applicants trying to obtain K visas. Note: For K visa cases in process at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate prior to October 7, 2013, check the limited exceptions explained within the FAQs below.
You can review the Frequency Asked Questions for instructions on how to use the DS-160.
You can also access the DS-160 by visiting the Consular Electronic Application Center website.
Important Information to Visa Applicants: After you have completed the DS-160, you must take these next steps below:
- Print the completed DS-160 barcode page. You don’t have to print the entire application. That’s optional
- You have to schedule for a visa interview appointment. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate doesn’t schedule an appointment for your needs. Visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website where you will be interviewed for country-specific instructions.
- Pay for the visa application processing fee. Review country-specific instructions on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website.
