Chelsea have reportedly finished the signing of two defenders on the transfer deadline day, with Nantes’ Papy Djilobodji and Reading’s Michael Hector both moving to Stamford Bridge, as reported by the Metro.
The Blues spent £2.7m on the Senegalese center- back (reports Metro), after he signed a four-year contract with the Premier League champions, BBC Sport report.
While the 27-year-old’s move has stunned many given the marquee names that have been connected with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side, it is certainly the signing for Hector that will surprise most football fans.
The Metro also reported that the Jamaica international is near closing a £4m deal with Chelsea, regardless of the fact being associated with a switch to Crystal Palace.
Despite becoming a full international player, and helping his country at the current year’s Copa America, Hector was not likely kind of player that Blues fans want Jose Mourinho to sign.
The 23-year-old has already been linked with 11 loan spells during his football career – huge numbers of which have gone through with non-league sides – so this signing will certainly have something to prove if he needs to remain a starter for Chelsea in the next few years to come.
