CHELSEA have pulled ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Nigerian youngster Kelechi Nwakali.
According to Express website, this teenager and his teammate Victor Osimhen who won the Golden Ball at the Under 17 World Cup in Chile this year, have been monitored by teams across Europe.
Nwakali captained Nigeria to victory, and his agent admits talks over a move are stepping up.
“We are in contact with Chelsea, Udinese and Olympiakos,” Klay Ekeocha told .
“Udinese made a ridiculous offer of €800,000 for the Most Valuable Player of the FIFA Under 17 World Cup.
“We are working hard for the player, his family and academy. Manchester City and West Ham are no longer involved because of work permit issues.
“We got in touch with Arsenal and there’s no feedback yet.”
The ASJ Academy midfielder Nwakali told FIFA.com winning the World Cup as captain was a dream.
“To play in a World Cup final and win the trophy is amazing. Not just winning it, but defending it,” he said.
