Nigeria – Reports reaching Nigeria Newspapers like Premium Times on Monday revealed that Aisha Buhari, wife of the President of Nigeria wore a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch that cost £34,500 to President Muhammadu Buhari’s inaugration on Friday, May 29 2015.
This watch is estimated to be around N303 to £1 is N10, 453, 000 (Ten Million, Four Hundred and Fifty Three Thousand Naira), according to the current Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) exchange conversion rate.
The Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch arrives in a case made with Rhodiumised white gold set with fine cut diamonds. On the reverse side of the case is an octagonal crown gold with a precious stone called Octane Diamond.

President Muhamdu Buhari was perceived to be riding on a solid wave to anti-corruption, honesty and the pro-masses sentiment of the word “change”.
President Buhari’s Annual Salary compensation (excluding allowances) is N3, 514, 705.
In this way, Aisha Buhari was truly wearing the President’s 3 month’s salary on her wrist.
This stunning extravagance by Aisha Buhari runs contrary to rumors that the Buharis are modest and the President, a pastoral farmer with 150 cows, barely raised the money to pay for his Presidential nomination forms.
Many Nigerians have expressed trust in the capacity of the new President to fight corruption by cutting government waste and running a clean government. But this is not the reality as many are already lamenting about the intention of the new government.
However, Buhari’s appointment as a new President on Sunday May 29th, 2015 has two spokesmen wondering and has drawn criticisms from some Nigerians who say one spokesman is enough for a Government that talks about change and a radical start from the confirmed depletion of past government. NO CHANGE!
“Checks on thewatchgallery shows the replica of Mrs buhari’s wristwatch cost £34,500, which is contrary to President Muhammadu Buhari’s simple ideals”.
Buhari’s office did not reply to request for comments about the watch on Monday, local media reported. Nigerians debated whether it was appropriate for Aisha Buhari to wear the watch in her official portrait on social media this week.
